Work Experience and Areas of Expertise

I’m an ecologist, policy specialist, strategic advisor, and collaborative project manager with more than 20 years of professional experience.

I spent the first ten years of my career conducting field-based ecological research – monitoring, modeling, and analysis – mostly in US forests; also in Micronesia and Antarctica.

For the last 12 years, I’ve led sustainable international development projects for the US Agency for International Development (USAID) and the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), mostly in East Africa - Kenya , Mozambique, Tanzania, and Uganda - and in the Philippines.

I’ve worked as a US Foreign Service Officer, independent technical consultant, and project manager for international consulting firms such as Cadmus Group, DAI Global, RTI International, and Tetra Tech.

My work has concentrated on these integrated technical areas:

- Biodiversity conservation and natural resource management

- Environmental policy analysis, assessment, and compliance

- Land-use and conservation planning

- Business development and partnerships for sustainable international development

- Environmental and social safeguards for just and equitable project implementation
